Aunque pueda sonar raro, el otoño es mi estación favorita del año: El sol es mi fuente de energía, pero después de tres meses de calor el cuerpo me suele pedir un poco de fresco (y especialmente después de la sequía que hemos tenido este año). Me encanta volver a desempolvar la ropa de entretiempo, mirar la lluvia por el cristal y dormir con el edredón bien calentito encima; me gusta pensar en bufandas, gorros, guantes y botas altas; en caminos con alfombras de hojas moviéndose al compás de una melodía de piano. No me digáis que no tiene encanto…
Y he hecho coincidir este post con la época de vendimia, y desde aquí mi recuerdo a todos los que trabajan ese duro negocio. Hacía bastante que tenía en mente este trabajo, pero nunca me ponía con él, y la verdad es que no sé muy bien el porqué: ¡la transformación ha sido súper fácil!
Este juego de vasija y dos candeleros (sí, lo he dicho bien, candelero) tenía unos bonitos dibujos de racimos de uvas de colores vivos y alegres, pero la verdad es que no pegaba nada en el salón donde estaba colocado (era un regalo). Así que no hizo falta mucho para convencer a su dueña de que tenía que pintarlos para buscar la armonía con su salón.
Usé una capa gruesa de Chalk Paint de Annie Sloan directamente sobre el material, a pesar de estar rugoso y tener los motivos cierto relieve. Tenía claro que quería darle un aire clásico, como de ánfora griega desenterrada, en una tonalidad suave de terracota, sin darle demasiado protagonismo en la estancia, que ya estaba bastante llena de cosas.
Busqué una combinación aproximada rebajando el Barcelona Orange con Old White y di con este precioso tono melocotón que coordinaba con el de la pared.

Set of pot and candle holders
Strange as it may seem, autumn’s my favourite season: sunlight is my power source, but after three months of heat, my body normally asks for a gust of fresh air (especially after this summer’s drought). I enjoy blowing the dust off the garments in my winter wardrobe, I love watching the rain through the wet glass; I love sleeping with my warm duvet and thinking about scarves, knitted hats, wool gloves and high boots; I love the sight of leaf carpets dancing to the rhythm of some piano music. Isn’t it inspiring?
This post kind of coincides with the grape harvest, and here go my best wishes to those who work hard in the vineyards. I’d had this project in mind for a long time but I never decided to roll up my sleeves and get going until the inspiring autumn came along. The make-over has been super easy!
This pot and candle-holder set had some beautiful grape motifs in bright colours, however they did not match the rest of the living-room décor (they were a gift). Well, it wasn’t hard to convince the owner to have them painted so that they could perfectly match the room.
I only used a thick layer of Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint without the hassle: no priming, no sanding, just the beautiful and relaxing art of painting, even if the motifs had some relief to them. I wanted to give the set a casual, yet classical air, similar to that of unearthed Greek pots, in a soft terracotta palette, to blend it in an already-packed-with-things living room.
I searched for the right tone by mixing Barcelona Orange with Old White and found this gorgeous peach colour that matched the walls.
I finished it off with a flower wreath in yellow and orange.
